Welcome to Essential Nature!

Hello - this is Linda Gordon, an artist working with land, people and place. Our first series of art walks has now finished. We are all now full of inspiration for further creative work!

I am currently putting pictures, stories and news up on the blog (see the menu on the left).  And soon we will be displaying our work at the Burrows Centre and Northam library for all to enjoy.

These 'walking art workshops' took place in the fabulous coastal landscape of Northam Burrows, lying within North Devon's AONB (Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty).

I am very grateful for the support of  the AONB's Sustainable Development Fund which has enabled the whole project to happen.

You will find more information about all the Art Walks in the menu on the left - including a list of walks and some interesting links for the North Devon countryside.

You'll find the blog there too - directly linked to Google Blogspot. It's a great place to share your news, photos, videos, stories...  It is a place not just  for news about the fascinating North Devon coast - but anything at all about your experience of landscape and art around the world.

Next year we shall be running further walks in North Devon.  Join the Mailing List if you would like to know details...

and feel free to contact me if there is a different sort of environmental arts activity that you would like to see running here.

with my best artwalking wishes -  Linda

We admired the wide sweeping views around Bideford Bay, and closer to hand we examined the variety and detail of this unique coastal landscape.

We walked across grassland and the sandy beach, and clambered over dunes and pebbles. From time to time we paused - to make ephemeral works, take photographs or sketch the landscape.

And returning to where we had started, the afternoon was, of course, rounded off in true traditional style with tea and cake.

" I so enjoyed the pleasant company, the slow walk and the space to escape". (a participant's comment).
